Katherine Heigl shares the ways that growing up as a child within a "white bubble" changed the way she raised her adoptive family of multiracial origins. The actress "Firefly Lane", revealed to the media that it did not matter what color her skin was to her. But after having a conversation with her Korean-American adopted sister, she noticed the differences in the way people were treated by her. In my interview, I asked Meg what she thought of her treatment at public events, whether in the presence of or without parents, the treatment was very completely different. Meg responded "Oh sure! Every time!" Heigl said to her parents: "That was when I was aware of how foolish I had resulted in me feeling." According to the actor she was angered. But, she was determined to channel this energy into helping her adopted girls. Heigl is the mother of a 4-year-old son who is married to her 13 year old spouse, Josh Kelley. In 2009, they adopted Nancy Leigh (12), one of their daughters of South Korea, and Adalaide (8, a black child) in the year 2012.
